So long - Farewell - and all that jazz

Since it's not called a Farewell any more, I'll just say that Elder Jones spoke in his home ward this morning. :D It'll be the last time he's there for two years. :)

It was a lovely meeting - the ward mission leader spoke, Elder Jones spoke, and the ward Young Men president spoke. The hymns were all about missionary work or service. Afterward, we had an open house for friends and family - there were quite a few people that showed up at the church, but not so many people came to the house. There were a few that traveled to hear him speak. We even had some relatives from Olympia, WA, come down for the weekend - that was awesome! I tried to take photos of everyone that came to the open house... sorry, these keep getting uploaded in the wrong order and I'm tired of fighting blogger to fix it! LOL

Receiving his endowment

This afternoon Elder Jones went through the temple and received his endowment. We are so thankful for those that were able to be with us this afternoon!

The call is received!

Earlier today, Elder Jones' mission call came! We were all so very excited! I sent out an email to those that might be interested in coming over, Grandma brought some big maps, and everyone made their guesses where he was going.

Just before 6 PM, he was finally allowed to open the envelope, with Aunt Tammi on speaker phone, Jami recording it, and Aimee joining us on Skype.

He started to read out loud... "Dear Elder Jones, you have been called to serve..." and everyone held their breaths, "...in the Michigan Detroit Mission!" We all cheered! What did come as a surprise, though, was how quickly he was being asked to report to the MTC - February 16 - barely 6 weeks away!

We have so much to do in the next 6 weeks - but first, I need to send some chocolate to the person with the closest guess - and second, I'm going to start researching Detroit!! :D
